Buttons on both hub & phone

Can a button be connected to the hub and to a phone?
I'd like to build a system that will work from home (via hub) but will also work from alternate locations (via phone) - connecting/disconnecting from phone/hub isn't a deal breaker but I want to avoid re-configuring buttons.
The system is going to track baby activities. e.g., 1 press = start sleep. 2 presses = stop sleep.
I'd rather have the buttons travel with the baby - will this work? Do you have a better way to do this?
(I'm considering purchasing a hub + button set, apologies if this question is obvious post-purchase - no answers in forum search or documentation)

You can pair the button to multiple devices and assign the same config. But the button itself can only be connected to one device at a time. So if you have two paired devices nearby and the button has gone to sleep, when you then press the button, it will connect to the device that responds quickest.
