  • RE: Alexa and FLIC integration.

Hi @rich, The videos made by Paul and Brian were supposed to be focused on the new HomeKit integration and the new Flic Universal features. They were only notified that aside from HomeKit and Flic Universal we also have Alexa on beta testing without getting access to the beta hence why they did not have any demo of the Alexa features on either of their videos.

As a former tech journalist I'm sure you're aware that information can sometimes get lost in translation and that we have no control of the exact content that they publish or how they name their videos.

With that said, the Alexa Routines action is set to be publicly released in this quarter, most probably in the next couple of weeks so hang in there 🙂

P.S. We will of course be more cautious with the information we share with youtubers in the future.

  • RE: Where is HomeKit support for Flic Twist?

@seth_flic Our biggest development priority right now is building Matter support. Our initial plan was to build a Matter bridge so that the Flic devices can be added into any ecosystem such as HomeKit. However Matter still lacks Dimmer support and so does HomeKit.

We have instead decided to build a Matter Controller. For reference, other Matter Controllers on the market are Alexa devices, HomePod, Apple TV, Google Home and SmartThings Hubs. This is a bigger task than we initially expected but by being a Matter Controller we can offer the best user experience for our users and offer not only dimming but all of the smart features that Flic Twist provides like Smart Dimming, Advanced Dimming, Scene Blender and Selector to control any Matter enabled device.

Over 500 companies are already members of the Matter alliance, feel free to browse the list of companies here:

  • RE: Flic Twist battery cover is terrible

@seth_flic thank you for your feedback we will definitely make sure to provide better instructions for how to open the battery hatch.

Using a tool such as a screwdriver, it simply needs to be put into the slot and the tip pushed in towards the center of the Twist and the battery hatch comes off.
    See below video

Regarding why we have made the design as is, here are more details in case you are curious about our reasoning. During the design stage we explored having the batteries pre-installed in the product and adding a tab that could be pulled out that creates contact between the batteries and battery contacts. However there were two challenges, firstly we wanted to have no single-use plastics inside the packaging or product. paper based pull-tabs did not have sufficient strength and could break when pulled out. Secondly due to dimension constraints the entire Twist size would have needed to be slightly enlarged in order to have a small gap for the pull-tab to stick out. There were also safety concerns that were taken into account.

Installing/changing the batteries should be a rare occurrence due to long battery life so we decided that using a tool to open the battery hatch was the better option.

  • RE: Adhesive replacement

    Hi Matti,
the best adhesive would be the 3M Scotch Restickable Dot.

You can find it on Amazon and also in Office Depots.

    It's reusable and washable

  • RE: Intents / Tasker?

Flic already has a Tasker plugin. I've been using it myself for a very long time.

I have noticed a bug that doesn't allow double click and hold.

It's because we detect if there is none or only a function on Click then Flic app will only trigger Click. This is to reduce the delay that is meant to detect a double click.

This is in the backlog to be fixed.

Flic certainly is extremely powerful when used with Tasker!

  • RE: Flic IP rating

Official info: Flic was tested for IP44 rating for normal outdoor use which is defined as splashproof. Passed with flying colors.

Unofficial info: Below information is for informational purpose only as anything above IP44 is not covered by the warranty. Just a little disclaimer 🙂

Multiple users reported Flics that went through entire washing cycles when forgotten in pockets.

Personally had one Flic sitting outdoors, faced up, for exactly 1 year. This is Sweden and we have rough winters and a lot of rain. Apart from battery corrosion with a change of battery Flic was still fully functional.

Flic has also been (again unofficially) tested under water, still fully functional. Obviously Flic won't work when under water, but good to know that it should survive if accidentally dropped in water.
